Lindengate announced as Waddesdon Charity of the Year 2020

04 March 2020

Lindengate has been selected as Waddesdon’s Charity of the Year for 2020.

Based on a five-acre site in Wendover, Lindengate offers specialised gardening activities to help those with mental health needs in their continuing recovery. Their services, known as Social & Therapeutic Horticulture, use the healing power of nature and the outdoors to improve mental wellbeing, boost self-esteem and social inclusion and encourage long-term recovery. The charity has been nominated each year we have run the Charity is of the Year and is clearly a popular choice.

We are delighted to be working with the team at Lindengate through our programme of Charity of the Year events over the coming months. They responded to the good news by saying:

“Lindengate Mental Health Charity is incredibly grateful to the staff and volunteers at Waddesdon Manor, for choosing us as your Charity of the Year 2020. The partnership between The Rothschild Foundation at Waddesdon Manor will enable our charity to raise awareness of our unique work within the local community, and raise much needed funds to enable the continuation of vital support to those with mental health needs.”

As the NHS considers new ways to help those with mental health needs, including social prescribing, award winning Lindengate Mental Health Charity is forefront in offering an alternative solution to those with a range of mental health needs from the age of 14 upwards. With 1 in 4 people experiencing mental health issues, Lindengate is unique, being the only one of its type in the Aylesbury Vale. Supporting over 100 service users a week (known to us as Gardeners) we offer nature based activities, using the healing power of nature to improve mental wellbeing and encourage recovery. We believe that if you nurture nature, nature will nurture you.
