Hectors House – Staff and Volunteers Summer Picnic
22 September 2021
On Thursday 19th August, the second of our Waddesdon staff and volunteers events took place to support our charity of the year Hector’s House. Hector’s House promotes mental health awareness to prevent suicide. This is a small family run charity which was set up following the death of Hector Stringer, who tragically took his own life at the age of 18.
A large number of staff and volunteers arrived with picnics, blankets and chairs to enjoy a summer feast on the lawns at the front of Waddesdon Manor. With refreshments and ice creams provided by the Waddesdon catering team and music by Nether Winchendon brass band, we enjoyed the summer sunshine and welcomed the opportunity to catch up with friends and colleagues and find out a little more about the work of the charity.
A number of the Hector’s House team joined the event and expressed their enormous thanks and gratitude for the grant of £20,000 from the Rothschild Foundation, which would enable them to continue with their works to support individuals that are facing challenging times emotionally in the prevention of suicide through education and awareness. They spent time chatting with our staff and volunteers promoting their Eat, Move, Love workshops which we are hosting in the Power House at the end of September.
Unfortunately, the festivities were wrapped up a little earlier than planned due to a sudden rainstorm, but this didn’t deter the band as they continued to play whilst everyone enjoyed the last of their repertoire under the shelter of the Manor Terrace!
