Alina – A New Orchestra

28 April 2022

Alina is a new professional orchestra that wants to make classical music accessible and inclusive for everyone in the community. Nick Cutts, Alina’s founder and Chief Executive shares two new dedicated outreach programmes in Buckinghamshire supported by the Rothschild Foundation.

  1. ‘Band in a Van’ is an interactive concert series where the audience doesn’t just listen, they take part. It consists of a small group of musicians performing concerts in the heart of the community, with the audience enjoying popular music from film, musicals and the world of classical, as we invite them to shake some percussion, conduct the group or even sing along to some popular songs. The group has performed at High Wycombe, Micklefield and Aylesbury libraries and has been invited to perform at the new ‘Norman Bragg Space’ at Aylesbury Theatre. See the Band in a Van on Saturday 23 April at 11.00 am in Wendover Library and 1.30 pm in Aylesbury Library.
  2. Alina has created a dedicated programme of music workshops at two local Care Homes. Music therapy is such a powerful tool regarding mental health and it allows our outreach team the opportunity to support those living with Dementia and other neurological conditions, and improve their quality of life through workshops containing music, song, communication and most of all…fun.
