The Rothschild Foundation is delighted to support a contemporary reimagining of the lost 18th-century French Ballet des Porcelaines—The Teapot Prince—which will be performed at Waddesdon Manor this summer. Bringing to life a story of magic, desire and exotic entanglement, The Teapot Prince is based on an tale about a sorcerer who lives on a ‘Blue Island’ and transforms anyone who dares to trespass into porcelain cups, vases and other wares.

With the fairy-tale backdrop of Waddesdon Manor, The Teapot Prince will be performed in the beautiful formal gardens of the Parterre. There will also be a series of associated events for children including; baroque movement classes, handling rococo porcelain and plate painting. Mia Jackson, Curator of Decorative Arts at Waddesdon says: “The Teapot Price coming to Waddesdon launches an exciting European Tour, and links it with its first performances at a French Château. This particular château is full of porcelain and so provides the perfect setting for this smash hit.”
