Illuminated River

The Illuminated River project was developed through a collaboration between the Rothschild Foundation, the Mayor of London and a large number of stakeholders along the Thames. Once complete it will be the longest permanent public art commission in the world, lighting London’s bridges along the River Thames. The design for the artwork is a collaboration between US artist Leo Villareal and British architects Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands.

The project is managed by the Illuminated River Foundation with the Rothschild Foundation being one of the major donors.
