Local and community grants
In keeping with the Rothschild family tradition of support for the local community, the Rothschild Foundation supports the work of organisations in the area around Waddesdon and in High Wycombe, who make lives better for local people. This ranges from activities addressing social isolation of the elderly through to increasing opportunities for people with disabilities. We are keen to engage with small organisations where unique local knowledge and a nimble approach can often best meet community needs.
The Local and Community Grants programme provides small grants of up to £5,000 for projects in the broad field of social welfare. Registered charities with projects benefiting people within 10 miles of the Waddesdon Estate are eligible. We also invite applications from registered charities working within the town of High Wycombe. Please note that this does not include the Wycombe district entirely. The map below shows our two areas of focus:
Small and medium charities are generally prioritised for funding, rather than large national charities. Grants are usually made for specific programme related costs or, in the case of smaller charities, core costs. Capital projects are less likely to be funded, unless small in scale (e.g. equipment or minor refurbishments).
Registered charities should apply using our online application form, which is available on this page when we are open for applications. Our applications dates are published on our Information for Grant Applicants page.
Although we focus on registered charities, we are also interested to hear from Community Interest Companies (CICs) who are working within our geographic area and who address our charitable aims. Eligible CICs will be Limited by Guarantee and have an Asset Lock. Please contact us to discuss your work.
