We hold a number of other archive collections relating to Waddesdon or the interests of the Rothschild family.
This includes archives from Inskip & Jenkins now Inskip Gee who have acted as the architects for Waddesdon Manor since the 1980s; Ivor Burnell, a local historian and collector of local history material and postcards for Waddesdon and its locality; the archives of the restoration of Spencer House in London by the late Lord Rothschild; other small deposits relating to the history of Waddesdon Manor and the Waddesdon Estate.
We also hold, on loan, a significant quantity of business records from P & D Colnaghi Ltd. A London art dealer based in St James’ dealing in paintings, prints and drawings, Colnaghi have operated from the 18th century to the present day. The records we hold consist of stock books, correspondence, exhibition catalogues, financial records and catalogues published by Colnaghi and others. Although the business dates to the 18th century, there are significant gaps in the archive. The main series of correspondence and financial records do not start until 1894 and the stock records start in 1911.
